New kicks for my hiking and mountain biking trips scheduled for next week while I’m in North Carolina. Adventure vacation!
Gardening is in my blood. My cousins own Gertens Greenhouses, my Grandpa Gerten owned the Farmington Greenhouse for many years and my mom went to college for floral design. So far my only experience with plants is killing them. It’s time to get in touch with my roots. Literally.
I’ve been trolling the Brooklyn Brainery class list for a few months now and finally found one that I can take — Gardening Basics: Seed-Starting Party! For just $5 I will learn how to jump start my fire escape garden along side some smart and friendly green thumbed folks. The Plant Bio 101 class also looked interesting, but I’ll continue to rely on Jameson to teach me about that.
I would do almost anything for it to be 1988 again when all I had to worry about was how fast my mom could give me a piggy back ride down to the dock at the cabin.
One of the best things about being home this summer is spending time with my step-dog Lucy. I like to think that she’s all mine though. She’s my main girl. I never understood how people loved their pets so much until Lucy became a part of my life. We have so much in common…constant hunger pangs especially! I don’t think I’ll be able to make it through that ridiculously sad Sarah McLachlan commercial anymore.
